The theory behind sheepskin is that when the patient lies on the wool, it will create pockets and gabs of air that will allow moisture to escape. Also, some believe that sheepskin reduces pressure. While the air pocket theory might be true, sheepskin will bottom out after its initial use and become a mat hard surface, similar to a carpet. There is little to no evidence that supports the wool reduces pressure theory. The No Sore Bed Pad is designed not to collapse and continually manage pressure points, moisture and heat.
